“You don’t want to go behind the barn, the field is all stingers.”

How often do you get to photograph a farm wedding with an old rusted corrugated steel barn?

Not very.

We had made pictures on the front side and then inside their barn (located just outside Brockville). I asked what it was like from the other side and that is when Janna said that the field was full of stingers.

(Stingers are a stinging nettle plant and they had taken over the entire area behind the barn)

As is my custom at weddings, I was wearing a suit, socks and, because we had just come from a wet forest, tall boots. “No problem” I said and proceeded to walk through the field of stingers to make this picture of Janna and Nick posing in a broken-out window.

All was fine until I crouched down and sat in the field to get a better angle - my suit pants are not made of leather - the stingers got me all over my legs (and behind) but I didn’t care because I got the shot I wanted of them complete with the gorgeous textures that the rusted steel provided.
